The question, “Are there different methods or approaches to spreading the Gospel?” continues to be an essential consideration for believers committed to fulfilling the Great Commission. In the first two parts of this series, we explored personal conversations, Gospel literature, open-air preaching, and door-to-door evangelism. In this final part, we will examine two additional methods: writing letters and setting up street tables offering free Bibles and other literature. While there are many other ways of reaching people, these approaches highlight the creative and intentional efforts believers can make to share the Good News.

Spreading the Gospel through Writing Letters

Writing letters is a personal and thoughtful way to share the Gospel, especially in an age where digital communication often feels impersonal. The Apostle Paul’s letters to the early churches, which now form much of the New Testament, are prime examples of how written words can convey profound spiritual truths. In his epistle to the Romans, Paul declared, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (Romans 1:16). His letters not only encouraged believers but also proclaimed the message of salvation to all who would read them.

Today, believers can follow this example by writing to friends, family members, or even strangers. A letter can include a personal testimony of faith, demonstrating how Jesus has transformed one’s life. As the psalmist wrote, “Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul” (Psalm 66:16). Including a Gospel flyer or tract with the letter can further clarify the message of salvation and provide Scripture for the recipient to ponder.

This method is particularly effective for reaching those who may be hesitant to engage in face-to-face conversations about faith. A letter allows the recipient to reflect on the message in their own time, and the written words can serve as a lasting reminder of God’s love and grace.

Spreading the Gospel through Street Tables with Free Bibles and Literature

Setting up a street table is another impactful way to spread the Gospel. A simple table clearly marked with an offer of free Bibles, Gospel tracts, or other Christian literature can attract the attention of passers-by and provide opportunities for meaningful conversations. Jesus said, “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” (Matthew 5:14), and a street table serves as a visible witness to the community.

This method allows for both passive and active engagement. Some individuals may take a Bible or tract without speaking, while others may stop to ask questions or share their thoughts. In either case, the materials distributed can plant seeds of faith. Isaiah reminds us of the power of God’s Word: “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please” (Isaiah 55:11).

Street tables also provide an opportunity to show hospitality and kindness. Offering a warm smile, a listening ear, or a simple invitation to learn more about Jesus can leave a lasting impression. As Peter encouraged, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15).

In Summary

Are there different methods or approaches to spreading the Gospel? The answer is undoubtedly yes. Writing letters and setting up street tables are two additional ways to share the message of salvation, alongside the methods discussed in previous parts of this series. Each approach reflects the creativity and dedication of believers who desire to make Christ known. While this series has highlighted some key methods, many other opportunities remain to reach people with the Good News.

As we consider these methods, let us remember that the power of the Gospel lies not in our techniques but in the message itself. Paul reminds us, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). May we continue to seek ways to proclaim this life-changing message, trusting that God will use our efforts for His glory.
