Have you read our leaflet "A medicine like no other"?

A4 folded in half to make A5 size. The front has the appearance of a leaflet you would expect to find at a doctors surgery, hospital and dental surgery etc. Here is the wording:

WHY DO WE SUFFER ILLNESS?

Perhaps you have not experienced much by way of illness in your life. Or you may have known nothing but illness. Whatever path we have experienced, it is something we naturally do not want to go through.

No matter how hard we seek to avoid it, illness effects all of us and our loved ones at some point in life. Some of these experiences sadly point towards our lives concluding here on earth.

Some illnesses can be the fault of others, sometimes it can be the result of our own carelessness. Sometimes there is just simply no obvious explanation.

But there is one foundational reason why we all go through it. The Holy Bible (God's Word), tells us that before our first parents sinned (disobeyed) against God, there was no sickness or death in the world. After sinning against God, many terrible consequences came as a result. One consequence is illness. Illness has been in the world ever since.

You can read all about this in the Bible - specifically the first part called “The book of Genesis”.

The Bible tells us, that, “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23) – So although sin has brought about sickness into the world, there are even greater consequences for us all. The fact that we all die, shows us how serious God views sin.

It would be a very sad story indeed if it all ended there - we live a short while and then we die. But there is some very good news - there is so much more to the purpose of our existence.

To understand the good news, you have to grasp some very bad news first. Like understanding you have an illness, only then will you truly appreciate the cure.

You need to examine yourself in the light of God's Word-

Have you ever told a lie?

The Bibles says “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 12:22)

Have you ever stolen something (regardless of value)?

The Bible says “you shall not steal” (Exodus 20:15)

Have you ever misused God's Holy Name (this is called blaspheme)?

The Bible says “the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7)

Have you ever been drunk?

The Bible says, a drunkard will not inherit the Kingdom of God (see 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

If you are honest, you will admit that you have sinned / broken God's law. Your God given conscience bears witness to this. The consequence of sin is not only death in this life, but an eternal punishment after judgment (Hell).

This, I am sure you agree is deeply concerning.

Do not despair, the good news follows in the rest of the verse “the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). God will be merciful to whoever will humbly seek Him for forgiveness.

The Bible says “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16) revealing that, in this fallen sinful world, God has done something staggering to redeem man to Himself - the perfect sacrifice of His only Son - Jesus Christ - so “that through His (Jesus) Name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.” (Acts 10:43).

JESUS TOOK THE PUNISHMENT

Instead of facing a deserved eternal punishment, Jesus came and lived the perfect life none of us live (He never sinned). He voluntarily died a brutal death on the cross -and rose again three days later. His death was a payment for sin for all who would repent and believe upon His Name: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).

Any ‘good’ deeds, without a right relationship with God through Christ, will not amount to anything. There is only One door to enter heaven and that is Jesus.

Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6).

WHAT IS IT TO BE SAVED?

There is a great heritage promised for those who will receive this free gift.

To be saved includes deliverance from the power of sin and death (Jesus calls all to repent of their sins and trust in Him alone).

This restoration includes a new heart. “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The Bible calls this being born again (see John chapter 3).

God calls you to Himself in Christ - to this brand new life. A life that is faith in Him for the washing away of your sins. In Christ, “As far as the East is from the West, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12).

A loving God wishes not only to see that you are reconciled to Him, but that you live in a peace and strength that passes understanding through even the hardest of times (see Phillipians 4:7). This includes experiences of illness and even death. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me ..... Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever” (From Psalm 23).

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed” (Romans 8:18).

DO YOU WANT TO BE IN A RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD?

Come to Jesus TODAY.

Humbly ask the Lord to forgive you of your sins (through prayer). Confess them to Him - call upon Him to cleanse you by His precious blood. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved” (Acts 16:31).

“Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you ” (James 4:8).

It is important to connect with Christian believers in the Lord Jesus, if you are seeking Him. This will be of great help and a way to answer any questions you might have. We also encourage you to read the Holy Bible. The Gospel of John is a great place to start.

“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7)

“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” (2 Corinthians 9:15)
