How Christians Can Use the Internet to Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ

The internet is a powerful tool that offers Christians an unprecedented opportunity to fulfil the Great Commission. Jesus commanded, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Today, the internet allows us to reach people across the globe with the message of salvation. But how can Christians effectively use the internet to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
How Christians Can Use the Internet to Share the Gospel
The first step in utilising the internet for Gospel outreach is recognising its vast potential. Whether through social media platforms, websites, or online forums, the internet provides countless ways to share the good news of Jesus Christ. As Proverbs reminds us, “The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright” (Proverbs 15:2). By using these tools wisely, Christians can bring the truth of God’s Word to a digital audience.
Sharing Scripture Online
One of the simplest and most effective ways to share the Gospel online is by posting Bible verses. The Word of God is powerful: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword” (Hebrews 4:12). Sharing Scripture on social media platforms, blogs, or in online discussions can plant seeds of faith in the hearts of those who read it. Verses that speak of God’s love, such as John 3:16, or His call to repentance, like Acts 3:19, can encourage others to seek Him.
Writing and Sharing Articles
Christians can also use the internet to write and share articles that explain the Gospel message or address common questions about faith. Articles can cover topics such as the meaning of salvation, the reliability of the Bible, or the hope found in Jesus Christ. Paul wrote, “That I might by all means save some” (1 Corinthians 9:22), and online articles can reach diverse audiences with the truth of the Gospel.
Engaging on Social Media
Social media platforms are a mission field where millions of people spend their time daily. Christians can share personal testimonies, encouraging posts, or Gospel messages to spark meaningful conversations. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). By sharing Christ’s love and truth on social media, we can reflect His light in the digital world.
Hosting Online Bible Studies
Another way Christians can use the internet to share the Gospel is by hosting online Bible studies. Platforms like Zoom or Google Meet allow believers to gather with others for prayer, teaching, and discussion, regardless of location. These virtual gatherings can be a powerful way to disciple others and introduce them to the Gospel.
Creating and Sharing Videos
Videos are a highly engaging medium that can convey the Gospel in a personal and impactful way. Christians can create short videos sharing their testimonies, explaining key biblical concepts, or presenting the Gospel message. As Paul wrote, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Videos can help others hear the Word of God and respond to His call. See an example video below.
Reaching the Searchers
Many people turn to the internet to search for answers about life, faith, and eternity. Christians can create blogs, websites, or social media pages designed to address these questions from a biblical perspective. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15). By meeting people where they are, Christians can guide them toward the truth of the Gospel.
In Summary
The internet provides countless opportunities for Christians to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From sharing Scripture and writing articles to engaging on social media and hosting Bible studies, the digital age has opened doors to reach the world with the message of salvation. As we consider how Christians can use the internet to share the Gospel, let us be faithful stewards of this tool, proclaiming Christ boldly and clearly to a lost and searching world. As Isaiah declared, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation” (Isaiah 52:7). May we use the internet to bring these good tidings to all who need to hear.
