Our blasphemy tract "Be careful what you say" is part of our free outreach resources.
You hear God's Name misused every day, but do people really realise what they are doing? We have sort to take this reality head on by producing a flyer to directly challenge this sin. We have a large collection of other free Christian scripture leaflets. You can view our range of more than 30 designs, by clicking here: Free Gospel Flyers
Have you read our leaflet "Be careful what you say"?
A5 sized, folds to A6. Here is the wording:
There is a Name that is found frequently upon the lips of people today - if you were to listen in the supermarkets, on public transport, switch on your tv or go to the cinema, it is likely to be no long time before you hear it said.
I challenge you to listen out for it.
The world's best selling book of all time describes it as
“a Name which is above every name” (The Holy Bible - Philippians 2:9)
Instead of a four-letter filth word, when you or others are shocked, hurt or disgusted, the Name of your Creator is misused, the worst thing you can do to someone's name. The very One who gave you the air you breath, the food that sustains your body daily. Indeed He has given you everything you have. To misuse God's Name is a sin and direct offence to God - you and I are guilty of breaking the commandment "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain" (Exodus 20:7). You might respond "I did not know this is wrong!" - but ignorance of the law is no defence, even in common law - much more so in the court of heaven.
I wonder, have you misused His Name today in any way? He knows if you have.
Ask yourself, “why would you insult Almighty God?”
Did you know, that God will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain? (see Exodus 20:7)
When you use His Name in such a wrong way, the Bible (God's Word) calls it blasphemy. It also says, the punishment for such sin (and every other sin) is eternal, “everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power”
(2 Thessalonians 1:9).
God sets the standard for right and wrong in this life and when we die and stand before Him we will all be judged, giving account for everything. He will judge your thought life, your actions and where you failed to act. A lie for example, no matter how “white” you think it to be, is no minor offence in His sight. “Lying lips are an abomination” to God (Proverbs 12:22). “All liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8).
In spite of you taking God's Name in vain, telling lies and every other sin. He wants you to know some very good news..
God's only Son, Jesus Christ, humbled Himself and came into this world 2,000 years ago. This was specifically to make the only way possible back into a right relationship with God. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and He lived a perfect life that we can not - demonstrating He was God through many unique miracles. He also came and died the most brutal of deaths, willingly nailed to a cruel Roman cross. It is here He took the punishment deserved for sinners, for all those who will turn to Him.
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (see Romans 5:8), "He rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:4) and was seen by over 500 people (See 1 Corinthians 15:6).
God's Word says, regarding Christ, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other Name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
What Jesus did on that cross is THE greatest act of love ever seen in history.
Every Christian can know “when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son.”
It is with this love that this message is written to you. We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be reconciled to God.
Christ's punishment for sin on the cross is the only way that has been made for an individual like you and me to be forgiven of all sins. Jesus says (in Mark 1:15) “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel
(good news)”.
How can you receive this free gift of forgiveness?
Humbly ask the Lord in His great mercy to forgive you of your sins (through prayer to Him). Confess your sins to Him, call upon Him to cleanse you by the blood of Jesus.
Jesus said - "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." (John 14:6). “Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37) . "Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you" (James 4:8).
How will you know this forgiveness?
By believing the promises given to us in the Bible and that He gives all who come unto Him a new heart as evidence of His forgiveness. “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
“Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Please, turn to Him today - tomorrow is not guaranteed!
